Capoeira Academy UK (Charity Tax Reference Number: XT12570) is a vibrant organisation dedicated to promoting the understanding of capoeira in the UK and providing capoeira coaching for young people. We were formed in 2008 and have recently completed a successful pilot project training children between the ages of 3 – 11.

Capoeira instruction

Capoeira Academy UK provides professional and structured capoeira coaching to children in a child centred environment. We emphasise the elements of capoeira that make it particularly appealing to the young. Games, songs, musical instruments, stories and challenging acrobatic movements all form part of our classes.    Our capoeira coaches undertake enhanced CRB checks before training young people and receive an annual skills assessment by Capoeira Muzenza, one of the world’s largest capoeira organisations.

Capoeira training

In a recent pilot study (late 2008) we provided capoeira lessons to two schools in London. 80% of children (between the ages of 3 – 11) said that they would like to take part in more capoeira projects. We are excited that 90% of children stated that they had learnt new skills through the classes.   Capoeira Academy UK aims to build on the success of our pilot project by providing regular capoeira classes to children and young adults in London. We are keen to partner with organisations in order to provide children with a regular, reliable coaching service, we are also seeking funding from the government, other charities, companies and individuals.
